Four element of Curriculum Design


Design Dimensions Consideration

1)  Scope

  • Consist all the content, topics, learning experience, and organizing threads,
  • can extend over a year or more,
  • consider learning's cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains
2) Sequence
  • Cumulative and continuous learning,
  • How content and experience can build on what come before
3) Continuity
  • Repetition of curriculum,
  • Ideas and skill reappear 
  • Provide opportunity to become more sophisticated in the process
4) Integration
  • Linking all types of knowledge and experience,
  • Relationship between topics and themes
5) Articulation
  • Vertical articulation (sequencing content from one grade level to another)
  • Horizontal articulation (develop relationship between elements)
6) Balance
  • Appropriate weight of each aspect,
  • Advance their personal social and intellectual goals.
